Navaneeta signifies butter and ‘kaivalya’ means ‘aloneness’. From the vast ocean of milk (the Upanishads) the great teachers have drawn the ‘butter of wisdom’ and filled it in pots. Kaivalya or Kevala is the state of an individual in which the soul exists isolated from all connection with the body, etc.[28] The ancient scriptures declare that the state of ‘kaivalya,’ or ‘aloneness,’ is attained by one who has realised the truth that his being is really different from the physical objects in the Universe. There are two kinds of such a state of consciousness, one of which is ‘kaivalya,’ that is, when the individual is completely alone. The other is ‘kaivalya’ or aloneness when the individual is divided from the all external objects, as well as his own internal thoughts and feelings, when he is completely enlightened.[41]
The Sanskrit word Kaivalya means \"aloneness, isolation\", and refers to someone who has renounced and isolated himself from all attachments to worldly desires.[4] It also refers to \"the absoluteness\", states Deussen, the inner conviction of a man on a spiritual journey to liberation.[3]
The text's meaning does not require the existence of a personal God.[43] Instead, asserts Kaivalya Upanishad,[5] the highest Self is the only true Reality, the intimate one, the supreme, the existing one (satya).[5][6][44] This highest Self depends on no other, is beyond all limitations, and is the totality of all attainments.[12] Only when we know this Self, we become one with it.[12][45] Out of this Self comes all the universe, and this Self is all alone, without any other.[12] The practices of self-religion, declares Upanishad, are self-denial, love, knowledge,[45] self-restraint and austerities.[12] 7211a4ac4a
