Should I Drink MCT Oil in My Coffee?

This is one of the first things people think of when they think of keto MCT Oil. Should you add it to your coffee?

MCT Oil is a great addition to any keto diet, but like with most things - there are pro's and cons.


  • Brain Fuel

  • Fatty Acids

  • Helps keep your appetite down


  • May stall your weight loss

  • Can cause weight gain

  • Can cause digestion issues if too much is taken

I like to take MCT oil in the beginning to help my body become fat adapted as I'm transitioning off of sugar/carbs and into fat for fuel.

However, after you become fat adapted would be a good time to cut it out to allow your body to tap into it's own fat reserves for fuel.

It's best to start out with just a small amount of MCT oil at a time. Maybe 1/2 tsp to test your tolerance.

How it can be taken:

  • You can add it to hot or iced coffee.

  • You can add it to hot water and add chocolate collagen to make a creamy chocolate night time drink.

  • You can add it to food like salad dressings.

All in all I think it's a great thing to add. If your weight stalls with it, cut it out and track the change.
